It's on like Donkey Kong in this trailer for PIXELS

1 min read

Kids today! They don’t know what real video games are! I’m talking classics like Donkey Kong, Pac Man and Space Invaders! Those classic games set up gaming as we know it, and that was despite the fact that some of them were finger-blisteringly difficult as well! So who ya gonna call when old school video game characters attack the planet! Adam Sandler and crew, that’s who!

When intergalactic aliens misinterpret video-feeds of classic arcade games as a declaration of war against them, they attack the Earth, using the games as models for their various assaults. President Will Cooper (James) has to call on his childhood best friend, ’80s video game champion Sam Brenner (Sandler), now a home theater installer, to lead a team of old-school arcaders (Dinklage and Gad) to defeat the aliens and save the planet.

Love or hate Sandler, but the film is at least looking damn good in the special effects department. Who would have thought that Pac Man was such a psychotic planet-destroying and hand-eating menace? It’s looking like a solid movie, and really, it’s an idea that should drive a ton of seats into theatres. Pixels is out July 24 and also stars Josh Gad, Kevin James,Peter Dinklage and Michelle Monaghan. Chris Columbus directs.

I will summon Google, since they already have an AI that can beat these games reliably.
