We kick off things off a bit bloodily today, because hey, a little bit of violence never hurt anybody, right?
I’d never heard of indie thriller Scenic Route until now, but based on this very intriguing teaser trailer, featuring a mohawked Josh Duhamel (Transformers trilogy) and Dan Fogler (Balls of Fury) doing violent things to each other, I’m starting to take notice.
Scenic Route is directed by commercial and music video directing duo Kevin and Michael Goetz with a script from Kyle Killen (The Beaver, “Awake”). Mitchell (Josh Duhamel) and Carter (Dan Fogler), life-long friends who have drifted apart, are on a road trip when their old pickup breaks down, leaving them stranded on an isolated desert road. As the relentless elements of the desert grind them down, they start to attack each other’s life decisions with unwavering brutality. As they question who they are and who they could have been, their agitation leads to knife-wielding madness and more.
Now that’s how you do a teaser trailer! I’m guessing thought that Duhamel beating Fogler to death/within an inch of his life, is not the proper endgame though, because, hey spoilers!
Scenic Route will be premiering at SXSW 2013, that’s this year’s South By South West film festival for you lesser cool people. Hopefully it gets picked up there for some mainstream distribution so I can get to see exactly what these dude’s are fighting about. My money is on Josh Duhamel’s haircut though. That would also make me hit my best friend in the brains with a crutch.
