Specifically, they’re coming for Selene’s blood – and that’s the last vampire’s blood I’d be wanting to draw because I’ve watched all the previous movies. It doesn’t end well. However if not for the irrepressible inability of the Lycan hordes to learn this lesson we wouldn’t have the upcoming fifth Underworld movie we so rightly deserve – Underworld: Blood Wars.
The official plot synopsis is as follows:
The next installment in the blockbuster franchise follows Vampire death dealer, Selene (Kate Beckinsale) as she fends off brutal attacks from both the Lycan clan and the Vampire faction that betrayed her. With her only allies, David (Theo James) and his father Thomas (Charles Dance), she must stop the eternal war between Lycans and Vampires, even if it means she has to make the ultimate sacrifice.
You’d think after millennia of undeath vampires would’ve learned not to value style over substance when it comes to their homes, making themselves easy prey for anyone with the rare and dastardly ability to break a window. But then we wouldn’t get to see a supercharged Selene slicing through hordes of Lycans in a heartbeat, and looking so damn good while doing it. This is one of the movie franchises where I value style over substance any day, because they’re just so fun to watch – and this looks no different.
And never in a million years did I think I’d see an Underworld / Game of Thrones cross-over movie. I mean, they were scaling The Wall to meet with a Daenerys look-alike who, given that she’s undead, is also a White Walker? So confusing! That’s what it looked like to me anyway, or is that just me? Who cares, it’s Underworld!
