There are two things that our Nipponese friends do really well: produce most of the weirdness on the internet involving cephalopods, and provide the world with truly epic animated films. Case in point (for the epic animation not the squids), is this new Japanese trailer for Pixar’s latest effort, Brave.
Despite us having seen a few other trailers for the Scottish tale, this new version just seems to imply a far greater scale than it’s English language counterparts and has now got me really excited for the film.
Determined to make her own path in life, Princess Merida defies a custom that brings chaos to her kingdom. Granted one wish, Merida must rely on her bravery and her archery skills to undo a beastly curse.
Maybe it’s the sweeping orchestral score, the implied darker tone of the story or maybe just the fact that everything sounds cooler when said in a deep Japanese voice, but somehow that seems way better than anything released before.

Like the Coen brothers, I’ll watch anything Pixar makes at least once.
