First season 2 trailer for Jessica Jones is here!

What a time to be alive! I think we can thank the hugely popular Netflix for upping quality of superhero shows we have come to enjoy. Sure, there are a few misses *cough Iron Fist cough*, but the good far outweighs the bad. One huge surprise for me was Jessica Jones, also set in Hell’s Kitchen (no, not Trevor’s kitchen, although I can see where the confusion might come in). I had no idea about the character but was definitely in the mood for something a bit different, and boy did the show deliver. It was far darker and dealt with very heavy subjects, like the abuse of power and rape. It also starred one of my favourite actors, David Tennant, as Killgrave. What an utter bastard. Well, we have more coming our way!

On the 8th of March 2018 expect the sassy, foul-mouthed Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) to kick her way back into your hearts (literally), and we have a trailer to prove it. Behold!

That looks awesome! It also looks like we may get more info on the origin of her powers, something I am clueless about. Luke Cage’s series also looked back at his ‘making’ so I am looking forward to a bit more on Jessica’s past. Not so sure about who the big bad is going to be, but I believe there will at least be some flashbacks to Killgrave, at least according to internet chatter. Of season two’s approach to the story, Ritter revealed the following in an interview with Entertainment Weekly:

I think what we can say is that what we’ve done again is kept the story very personal. If season one was in her head and in her mind, then season tw0 will be more in her heart. This season is more emotional. It’s still a psychological thriller, but it’s more of an emotional thriller this time.

What do you think? Are you tired of all the superhero series and movies yet? I know I ain’t, though I understand that some people are suffering the fatigue of Marvel and Disney basically acting as our overlords, while DC sits back and seems to suffer multiple failures.

I have been an avid fan of movies ever since I discovered Santa Clause wasn't real, a day marked in my memory by my first viewing of It's a Wonderful Life, which wasn't so wonderful that day. Since then I've watched thousands of movies and even fooled my parents into putting me through uni to get a degree in the subject. I first started writing as a journalist for The South African Newspaper before moving onto communications for an NGO trying to save the planet. Unfortunately my recommendations to the CEO that we should all don rings imbued with the powers of earth, fire, wind, water and HEART went unheard. Now I pretend the end isn't nigh by hiding in movies.
