My wife is obsessed with Greys Anatomy. If were were still in high school, she would spend her time doodling Greys Anatomy‘s name in the corner of her notebooks. But even with her raging fanaticsm, my missus really didn’t have much time for Katherine Heigl when she tried to transition from annoying TV character to America’s next movie sweetheart. And neither did America. Or the world. Or anybody with a brain.

So now Heigl is trying something slightly new with Home Sweet Hell, a film which sees her ditching her wannabe Julia Roberts aspirations to play up the black humour. Like cracking jokes about pregnancies while carving up a human body. Yikes.

Whether or not I buy this new Heigl, at least co-star Patrick Wilson seems to be having a blast, based on this first Red-Band trailer. Check it out below.

Mona and Don’s seemingly perfect suburban bliss is disrupted by a sexy extortionist and Mona will stop at nothing, including killing the competition, to keep her little slice of heaven.

Home Sweet Hell also stars Jordana Brewster, Kevin McKidd and James Belushi. It has no scheduled release date yet.

Just yesterday I was reading an article about what went wrong with Heigl’s career. Maybe she is a bit more humble these days. But this looks like fun and I must say I like the feel of her character in this.

As Kervyn noted, she burned serious bridges with her peers and fans in how she left Grey’s Anatomy. This helped more or less destroy her appeal at the box office. She also had a habit of making controversial comments about films she appeared in, like calling Knocked Up sexist while the movie was still showing. So many people simply don’t want to work with her. And apparently her mother, who is her manager, is very abusive and nasty towards people. Basically, Heigl just made herself terrible to work with. Val Kilmer did pretty much the same thing.

I know very little about Grey’s anatomy. And I did not enjoy knocked up. I guess these things happen with some celebs. Is this why Val has not starred in any Expendables movie yet? (Or has he? I’ve only watched the first)

There was also lots of stories of her being an absolutely diva on movie sets, making unreasonable demands and acting like she owned the place when she was barely a movie star.
