You ever watch Westworld? It’s a rather dated film by today’s standards, but it still had some solid ideas regarding human debauchery, free will and creating life. Also, those ideas were quickly tossed aside for some good ol’ robot havok as Isaac Asimov’s three laws of robotics were quickly pimp-slapped into submission.
Westworld is the kind of film however, that is totally worth revisiting. And that’s exactly what HBO is doing in their latest mini-series, which has been described as “a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the future of sin.”
Here a tease for what to expect in the theme park of tomorrow:
Some solid beats there, as the artificial synthetic humanoids look a bit unhappy with their lot in life as sexbot murder victims. Westworld stars Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, Jeffrey Wright, Thandie Newton, James Marsden, and Evan Rachel Wood.
Jonathan Nolan, Lisa Joy, and J.J. Abrams are notching up producer credits on this show, so expect a few mind-twisty bends as the series kicks off in 2016.
