Ready Player One

One thing that I love about this technological era is just how easy it is to get information. And on the movie side, this means we get first looks at sets and other things long before the trailers are released. Gone are the days of getting excited for movie trailers to finally see what the movie looks like. Okay, I lie, I still get excited about trailers. Though, these days many are poorly done.

But back to the topic of early information. We now have pictures and videos that reveal the set of Steven Spielberg’s upcoming film Ready Player One, based on Ernie Cline’s novel of the same name. The story is based in a dystopian American future, but as with most movies these days, it isn’t actually being filmed in the US, but in the UK. However, it looks like they are still trying to keep the used earth element strong and while you can’t see much from these pics, the production value, as always in Spielberg films, is exceptionally high with this one.

Not sure what it is about the design, but it has me excited. I’ve never read the book (don’t look at me like that Kervyn) and know nothing of the story, but the whole look and level of detail going into everything has me excited. Everything looks old, used up and dirty as it should, while still maintaining a semblance of technological advancement.

Ready Player One is only due for release into theatre on March 30th 2018, so we are still a long way away from seeing this film in cinemas. It does look good though. And it gives me plenty of time to attempt to read the book. (Honestly Kervyn, I will try.)

It’s like a movie, only with words instead of pictures… Lots and lots of words. You should try it sometime. 😛
