With all the big spidery and batty releases around the corner, I had nearly forgotten about The Watch (formerly known as Neighbourhood Watch), but luckily there’s a new International Trailer out to serve as a reminder.
The cast of Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Jonah Hill and Richard Ayoade certainly holds the potential for some great comedy hijinks, and going by this trailer it looks like they could very well deliver. This trailer also gives us our most explicit look thus far at the extraterrestrial threat that the four guys will be facing, and also why alien balls are cool.
Stiller and Vaughn seem to have comfortably fallen into their usual nerdish straight man and fast talking wise guy roles, while Hill looks to be bringing a bit of the crazy of his 21 Jump Street character to the table. But it’s the English funnyman Ayoade (The IT Crowd), making his American feature film debut, that looks like he could end up stealing the show here. I’m just hoping that at some point during the film, that something breaks down requiring him to ask if its been rebooted yet.
Synopsis:
An outrageous comedy in which four everyday suburban guys (played by Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Jonah Hill and Richard Ayoade) come together to form a neighborhood watch group, but only as an excuse to escape their humdrum lives one night a week. But when they accidentally discover that their town has become overrun with aliens posing as ordinary suburbanites, they have no choice but to save their neighborhood — and the world — from total extermination.
