As a huge fan of Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Legend of Korra series has been an odd one for me to watch. On one hand, it’s fantastic to see the lore expanded in such a richly detailed world with a more grown up animation style. On the other hand, I’ve felt let down by the rushed pacing and the helter-skelter plots. There’s been too much going on and Book Two in particular left me wondering what the point of it all was.
Consequently, I haven’t been keeping my eye out for news of the next season at all, and apparently it’s already finished and ready to roll. Co-creator Michael DiMartino confirmed via Tumblr that Book Three was completed as of June 4th. And, thanks to an accidental leak of half of the new season, they’ve pushed up the release date of the new trailer as well. Now, I don’t want to get too excited, I’ll just watch the trailer with an open mind.
Oh damn it, now I’m excited. That was one hell of a trailer! More Lin Bei Fong? More airbenders? Zuko’s back? Sparky Sparky Boom Lady?! Whaaat!
Currently there’s no confirmation on when Book Three will be released, but no doubt we’ll get more information at San Diego Comic Con. Hopefully we aren’t kept in suspense like last time.
