It seems that while most of the world spent the weekend ooh-ing and aah-ing at some sleepy forces, a certain sheep and his trailer snuck out of the pen and is now in the wild. That’s right, the first full trailer for Shaun the Sheep, the latest stop-motion pic from Aardman Studios, the acclaimed group behind the much beloved Wallace and Gromit series, has finally hit the net. And nets, pincers and restraining collars are exactly what the titular woolly hero and his intrepid baaaaahhh-nd are trying to avoid in this flick as they have brave the big city to rescue their farmer and his family.
The trailer shows us the typical type of wackiness and clever in-jokes that we’ve come to expect from Aardman’s clay-masters at this point, and looks to be just the type of lighthearted and fluffy (very fluffy) entertainment for the whole family to unwind to.
StudioCanal and Aardman Animations are teaming up to produce a movie based on one of Aardman’s most popular animated characters – “Shaun the Sheep.” In the film, when Shaun’s mischief inadvertently leads to the Farmer being taken away from the farm, Shaun, Bitzer and the flock have to go into the big city to rescue him, setting the stage for an epic adventure. First seen in the Oscar-winning short film “A Close Shave,” the world’s most famous sheep and his flock have been enthralling TV audiences in over 170 countries and has proved to be one of the studio’s most popular and endearing characters.
Shaun the Sheep opens locally on February 27, 2015.
