This official trailer for INSIDIOUS 3 will make you jump

Insidious 3 wide

I have always enjoyed the Insidious movies. Unlike most horrors Insidious really allows you to have a look at their realm – you get to SEE the ghosts, what their motivations are and where they come from. Most horrors only let you in on the big secret right at the end, keeping you literally in the dark for most of the movie in order to build suspense through ‘negative space’. Not the Focus Features/Bloomhouse productions though. Rather they opt for full on paranormal madness from the get go. And Insidious 3 appears to be keeping that trend.

This time round Leigh Wannell, who co-wrote the first two films, returns to write and make his directing debut on what looks like to be a load of fun.

Set before the first two, Insidious 3 goes the route of prequel which so many other movies are doing these days. Then again, when you consider that the first two movies only cost $1.5m and $5m to make respectively and made a total of $250m together you can see why there is a third! Still, with Lin Shaye back as the gifted psychic it looks like it will add to the franchise rather than take away from it (I’m looking at you Annabelle). Have a read of what to expect then get a pillow ready to scream into when you watch the trailer.

The newest chapter in the terrifying horror series is written and directed by franchise co-creator Leigh Whannell. This chilling prequel, set before the haunting of the Lambert family, reveals how gifted psychic Elise Rainier (Lin Shaye) reluctantly agrees to use her ability to contact the dead in order to help a teenage girl (Stefanie Scott) who has been targeted by a dangerous supernatural entity.

Looks awesome huh? Well expect some chills and spills this 5 June. If you can’t wait till then to get your horror on why not enter our The Lazarus Effect  competition and stand a chance to win two tickets, popcorn and soda over HERE!

I have been an avid fan of movies ever since I discovered Santa Clause wasn't real, a day marked in my memory by my first viewing of It's a Wonderful Life, which wasn't so wonderful that day. Since then I've watched thousands of movies and even fooled my parents into putting me through uni to get a degree in the subject. I first started writing as a journalist for The South African Newspaper before moving onto communications for an NGO trying to save the planet. Unfortunately my recommendations to the CEO that we should all don rings imbued with the powers of earth, fire, wind, water and HEART went unheard. Now I pretend the end isn't nigh by hiding in movies.
