In The Great Emmy Snubbery of 2013, Tatiana Maslany inexplicably didn’t get an Emmy nomination for her insanely good work playing 6 – or was it 7? I lost count – distinctly different characters, all clones of each other, on BBC America’s Orphan Black. She did get a Golden Globe nod, but the fact that the Emmy’s just left her out in the cold completely when she was several people’s favourite to win, must have chafed a bit. She’s liable to just start shooting the whole lot of them in retaliation. After all, according to this first trailer for season 2 of the breakout hit show, that seems to be the way she deals with problems now.

The first season of Orphan Black came out of nowhere last year. It already had a compelling mystery to unravel, but then with the insanely talented Maslany thrown into the mix, shouldering the show’s lofty ambitions with nary a stumble, it became must-see television almost overnight. And it looks like this season, those ambitions will be increased as we’ll have even more clones (even an Aang from the Last Airbender version!) for Maslany to tackle, and for us to try and keep track of.

Season 2 of Orphan Black will debut on BBC America on April 19, 2014. Hopefully our local broadcasters follow suit not too long thereafter, although you’ll be able to find it on iTunes, Amazon Prime and a bunch of other streaming services.

  1. She doesn’t get a nod, but Mando gets 2?
