So (hopefully) you may have noticed that we’ve been offline for a while. In a two week period that will now become known around these parts as *lightning strike* THE DARK AGES *dun dun duuuuunnnn!!*, our entire site became unavailable and there was next to nothing we could personally do to fix it. Well, except really, really freak out.
The problem was initially a minor one, and should have taken just a couple of hours at most to repair. Unfortunately a comedy of errors and just plain good ol’ bad service ensued, leaving our site’s boss and paymaster Gavin Mannion essentially having daily shouting matches with engineers both local and American who were in apparently far too chipper a mood for his liking, seeing as they had brutally hamstrung us. Over the two weeks, we went from panic to frustrated to furious to eventually just laughing it all off because there was nothing we could do from our end and our rapidly climbing blood pressure was helping nobody.
But yesterday, barring a slight quibble from Gavin’s side that made it look as if we were selling the site (shame, he was stressed out), all the stars finally aligned, all the ducks got in a row, all the t’s were crossed and i’s dotted… or whatever metaphor you want to use. Personally, I just prefer: “IT’S F#$%ING WORKING AGAIN!”
Of course, a lot happened while we were offline, and so we’ll be playing a bit of catch up with some old news initially. Also, normally we “close for business” on 16th December each year, but since we already had a “vacation” of sorts, we’re keeping the lights on a bit longer until the 24th December and will then take a brief break until the 4th January, after which it will be business as normal.
Well, not completely normal, as we already have some big developments planned for 2016. We’re just ecstatic that we once again have a functioning website to do it on!
