According to Nintendo the Wii is due for replacement this holiday season

I spotted a tweet earlier this morning from our friend over at GEAR magazine who found this awesome image on the IGN site.

Basically Nintendo appears to follow a pattern of releasing a new console ever 5 and a bit years and since the Wii was released in November 2006 it is all together reasonable to expect Nintendo to announce the Wii’s successor at E3 this year.

To be honest I’d be very surprised to see a new console from Nintendo this year with the Wii still hanging onto top spot, I wouldn’t however be surprised to see an announcement at E3 about a new console with a release date of November 2012.

I have no idea what Nintendo is going to bring to the party though…

“…and since the Wii was released in November 2011…”

Did some time traveler from November 2011 go back to 2006 and release it then?
