Depending on our exchange rates, it might be wiser to wait a bit and get the console post-launch. I have enough saved up, but I might wait a few months, just to make sure that all the launch issues have been dealt with.

Remember the 399 includes a controller also. So 399 + a game and you can play. (or 399 + 50 for plus and 2 free games per month + drive club)

I remember picking up my 360 a couple of months after launch with a bundled game and an extra controller (for 2 in total) at the same price as what it costed at launch.

Yeah, I don’t see the SONY price coming down anytime soon. Not if they are this cheap at launch. In fact, SONY have only just started making profits on the sale of the PS3.

You know what would be sneaky? Bundle it with… none! Then you have the good press from your massive $100 price difference, but what people don’t know is they have to fork out half that to get a controller. But they must bundle one with it. Surely?

Bit of a typo at the CPU there. Think you got the 1.84 confused with the GPU’s teraflops, pretty sure its a 3.2 Ghz or 3.6 Ghz CPU.

I agree, will be 1.6 – 2Ghz, but I still don’t see that anywhere? Where’s the 1.8Ghz from or was it a typo?

Well I guess it’s mostly educated guessing, based on what the specs for the AMD chips.

AMD specs for Jaguar cores are up to 1.85GHz, remember Jaguar is AMD’s new low power series and the higher the frequency you run at the more power and excess heat you consume/produce.

They up the “processing power” these days by using smaller transistors (28nm for the Jaguar) and then fitting more cores, more low level caches and bigger data pipelines on the silicone.

Also the Jaguar series in SoC (system on chip) the CPU and GPU (Radeon HD8000 core) is situated on the same silicone, the GPU is also more powerful than the CPU and does all the hard grunt work, graphics, physics (or anything other beefy task).

    I have 2 unanswered PS4 questions I’m curious about:

    1) This question is irrelevant for comparison purposes, I know, but just wondering, what is the CPU clocked at? Must me 1.6 – 2.0 Ghz imo, but does anyone actually know?

    2) How much of the PS4’s 8Gb RAM is actually available to games? Most rumors suggest the OS only uses 1Gb, so 7Gb is available, but still rumors. Look, even the 5Gb available to games on XBOX One is a crapload in console terms, but I’m just curious because this may affect the lifespan of the console.

These are simple questions… I wonder why they are still unanswered…
