For the first time ever at E3, PC gaming got its very own conference.Personally, I was looking forward to news on Legacy of the Void, the upcoming and final expansion to StarCraft II. Would we finally be getting solid information on a release date? Unfortunately not, but Blizzard did announce a brand new prologue, which is nice.
The new missions, three of them to be exact, are titled Whispers of Oblivion. They’ll bridge the storyline between Heart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void. Here’s the trailer:
In Whispers of Oblivion, players will join Zeratul for the first time since Wings of Liberty to unravel the final piece of the Xel’naga prophecy.
Sheesh, I’d give that video a 10/10 for drama. That being said, it does look pretty amazing!
A nice touch on Blizzard’s part is that Whispers of Oblivion will be entirely free for everybody. That’s right, you do not need to own Heart of the Swarm or Legacy of the Void to play the three missions. If you do pre-order the latter however, you’ll get early access to the prologue sometime in July. When it’ll be available to everybody else remains a mystery. I’m hoping it’s out by the end of this year, along with the official release of Legacy of the Void.
It has been almost 5 years since Wings of Liberty, and 2 years since Heart of the Swarm released. I enjoyed the heck out of both of them, so I’m looking forward to finally finding out how the conclusion to this StarCraft II trilogy plays out.
Will everybody die? Will Kerrigan and Raynor sort out their issues? Will Zeratul leave the shadows? We’ll have to wait and see. One things certain though – Legacy of the Void is set to be the best StarCraft II expansion yet! are you excited for it? I know I am.
