According to Steve Gibson, VP of Marketing at Gearbox, there are severe shortages of the 360 version of Borderlands along the East coast of America which they are addressing by sending out as many copies to that area as they can possibly handle.
There are also regional shortages of the PS3 version of the game along the West coast of America but for now they are resolving those issues by reallocation…
It is possible that Gearbox underestimated the desire for this game and only shipped a few copies but I like to think that the game is selling like mad. Because that means there is hope for society.
Borderlands is a brand new IP which is attacking the gaming industry in a completely new way and if people are picking it up already before word of mouth has spread then I can only assume that the market is ready for something new.
Which is awesome for all of us as it means the rest of the gaming industry will be reopening their IP books and seeing what else they can bring to life.
So if you haven’t already pre-ordered your copy of Borderlands go and do your civic duty and place your order now… we will wait for you.
