Battlefield4

We are often left comparing the Battlefield franchise with the Call of Duty franchise but one thing that Battlefield has over the competition is that it utilises the Frostbite engine which is continuously being upgraded by the separate Frostbite team.

What this means is that while the Battlefield team are coming up with new ideas for gameplay and experiences there is a full team hard at work improving the already impressive engine. Take a look below to see the latest additions to the Frostbite engine and just think for a bit how awesome the wind and water system really is…

I’d agree with pretty much everything this PR video says.. apart from the eyes.  The Frostbite engine is still re-animating corpses with dead eyes… it’s creepy

Who’s up for some multiplayer sea battles with jets and helicopters thrown in for good measure?

I think we can settle this once and for all. Call of duty shouldn’t exist anymore. This engine is going to kick ass everywhere.

We are in for a treat next gen. The lighting always gets me. That scene in MGS5 on horseback in Afghanistan was almost real.

So they wonder why we get all offensive when our escape boxes are turned into cable TV decoders.

I want to see me GAMES with this giddy realism.

Anyone else more excited what this engine means for Star Wars Battlefront and Dragon Age than Battlefield?

Not more excited, just ecstatic that it’s for BF and that it makes it fraking epic! Sure it’s a uber plus that other games can take advantage of this engine too.

I’s sure the new Call of Duty will be fine on your old PC. The fish AI might freeze your old PC.

Don’t you just love hearing about team working on a gaming engine since 2006 and then seeing how great the games look on that engine.

We support games hoping that the studios will improve and re innovate that gaming engine, to make the games, new and sequels, look and play great.

When Call of Duty 4 come out and since then, people have been waiting for that engine to re innovate itself, from the improvement between Call of Duty 1 to Call of duty 4.
Call of Duty is so old, they should be releasing that Call of Duty 4 DLC, for free, every year.

Battlefield 4 is going to look and play great, even on consoles. Call of Duty is going to look the same and play the same, just like the Ghost it is.

Yup. We expect top quality when paying for a AAA title, and that is what DICE is doing. Taking our well spent money and using the time to create what the fans are expecting. CoD is just shelling out a game each year, to make tons of money each year. But is the game growing at a rate that fans are expecting from a AAA title? I think NOT.
