Deep Silver confirms that the next Dead Island game, is an entirely new one

After watching a few zombie films I've come to the conclusion that I would be a cameraman in the event of a zombie-apocalypse. Those guys never get attacked.

Zombie games aren’t going away anytime soon, and if one brave and dashing writer is to be believed, they’re also great for preparing us for that inevitable encounter with the undead. Dead Island happens to be one such game, a title, that despite being quite buggy, went on to cult status shortly after it was released.

Developer Deep Silver is hard at work at something new in the Dead Island universe, something that won’t be a retooled or game of the year version of the popular title, but something new entirely.

Speaking to Manager of Marketing and Public Relations Aubrey Norris, Ripten received confirmation, that whatever Deep Silver was doing, it was for something entirely original. ”It is a new game. Not a remake,” Norris said.

Dead Island: Riptide is currently sitting on several websites with a pre-order price of $49.99, $10 less than the usual RRP of console games. Norris said that this price was indeed correct, and that Riptide would mark “The end of a console cycle- we think this price makes a lot more sense given that.”

End of a console cycle? Waitaminute, what are you hiding from us Deep Silver? What secrets do you know?!
