Destiny

Many Bothans died to bring us this new information about the interstellar game Destiny. Seriously, what’s with the Bothans and dying all the time? Anyway, check out some new screenshots and details on the game while I sweep these corpses up of Bothans who died to bring me my lunch.

Over on Bungies’s Mailsack blog post (via OXM), looting, crafting and a lack of AI friendlies were detailed. And by lack of, I mean that you won’t have any AI support whatsoever.

“Why would you want to recruit a Non-Player Character, when the world of Destiny is populated with Guardians?” Bungie asked in the post.

Every hero from the last safe city on Earth will be driven by a living, thinking player with a racing pulse and an itchy trigger finger. You’ll come across characters bound to the software, of course, but your allies will be the other players who join you on your adventures.

Bungie has been pimping the social side of the game for quite a while now. And tossing aside an NPC in this manner is one way to emphasise that connection. The game will soon be going into beta mode, with Bungie commenting that this phase would give “Enough to tell us what we need to know, but not so much that you’ll be left with no more worlds to conquer.

Ever served Bungie as a beta tester? This will be the biggest proving grounds we’ve ever opened up to you before we were go for final launch.

Destiny will also have crafting options for adventurers wanting to forge their own arsenal and armor. “The Tower will be a place where you can restore and upgrade your weapons and gear,” Bungie wrote about the feature.

Some of the loot you capture on your missions will be items that you can equip or wield. Other treasures that you reap from the action you sow will be raw materials that you need to upgrade your inventory. The best thing is that your rewards will be pre-destined. The fates know what you need, and your fortunes will favor the brave.

And last, but certainly not least, when will see the game in action with some new footage? “Soon”, Bungie said. There will be some new Destiny details soon, on the retail front, as the collector’s edition has been teased for reveal later this week.

No. Apparently it’s too difficult to develop it for multiple platforms when you’re releasing it on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3 & PS4.

Good. Had a freaking EPIC battle last night when I went after a supply barge that landed. Just inside the ship was a sectoid (the first one I’ve faced), 2 drones & 2 mind controllers. Just as I finish them off there’s a stream of 3 heavy floaters, 3 elite mutons, 3 berzerkers & 6 mutons all attacking from the one section. O_O

The one corner where most of the fighting took part was completely destroyed, 3/4 of the walls blown away lol.

That one was 2 heavies, 1 sniper, 1 assault & 2 support, all with laser weapons & plasma pistols (those with), 4 with titan armour, 2 with archangel.

I’m building my guys up to Colonel, already have a few – rest are all Majors now.

I am actually really excited about this. Get the impression that many gamers are just too afraid to get excited after so many burns. Or is that age?

This game looks amazing. I am really disappointed there is no PC version, but I understand why they chose not to include it. Way too much work and management, with last gen consoles included. I still think Halo 2’s flop still plague’s the reason why PC gamers gets no love from Bungie, but that is just opinion. Maybe one day they will give something great. Just not this time around.
