Bungie’s Activision-published shared world shooter Destiny isn’t out for another two and a bit weeks. But that hardly matters – here’s its launch trailer anyway.

This new launch trailer features a couple of press accolades, and a focus on the game’s campaign.

We had a blast with the game’s alpha, and then a second go at the game with the extended beta – and each time it’s left us wanting more. This launch trailer, two and a half weeks before the game is actually launched is a cruel, cruel reminder that in 17 or so days time, you’ll be lost to Destiny.

Destiny is coming to PlayStation 3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on September 9. The game is already starting to become divisive, which I think is a product of its monumental hype. Whenever anything or anybody becomes popular, it becomes instantly cool to hate. I do think the game’s being hyped just a tad too much, but everything that I’ve played, I’ve enjoyed immensely.

Of course, there are those who genuinely feel that it looks and feels a little generic, that it’s little more than a re-skinned, more multiplayer Halo for a new generation – or Borderlands without the Joie de vivre.

On which side of the fence do you sit? Is Destiny the next best thing, or is it dull and uninspired; another lifeless and bland shooter in a long line of lifeless and bland shooters?

Editor. I'm old, grumpy and more than just a little cynical. One day, I found myself in possession of a NES, and a copy of Super Mario Bros 3. It was that game that made me realise that games were more than just toys to idly while away time - they were capable of being masterpieces. I'm here now, looking for more of those masterpieces.
