I posted an article on another Guitar Hero playing robot last week and if you read it you would remember me asking for one that could play on expert. Well it seems I got my wish, although this one isn’t exactly made from Mindstorm Lego.
The robot is made up of a number of components, first there’s a camera that reads the notes of the screen. These readings are all fed to a “Configurable Signal Conditioning Enclosure (CA-1000)” which sounds like a pretty hardcore piece of equipment, but instead of reading the colours it reads the light intensity of the pixels. The robot itself which is compromised of a metal frame made to hold the guitar in place and pneumatic “fingers” which play the guitar. The signals sent from the “Configurable Signal Conditioning Enclosure (CA-1000)” tell the pneumatic “fingers” when to hit the buttons or the strum bar, I even noticed there one for the whammy bar as well.
The result however although way more competent at Guitar Hero than I will ever be, and that’s a fact, is not prefect. The robot will not prefect every song on expert on on average only hit’s around 70% to 80% of the notes. I’d still love to get one just for the hell of it, but my automatic Guitar Hero “achievement unlocking machine” is still to be made it seems.
