Maxis has released some new screens of their Spore spinoff, Darkspore.
The key features are as follows:
- Collect an arsenal of hundreds of different creatures and wield them as your living weapons
- Choose strategically which creatures to send into battle against the forces of Darkspore
- Combat hordes of infected enemies and massive bosses in fast-paced, intense action
- Join Forces, trade or compete with up to three other players in co-op campaign mode or up to eight other players in PvP mode
- Expand the Universe with DLC to unlock rare creatures, new planets and new features
Hit the jump for the somewhat “mehâ€-looking screens.
I can’t say I am all too excited about this title, other than looking rather dated, it also seems that they have taken a rather childish art direction. I suppose, fans of Spore may find this is exactly what they wanted from the beginning.

Thanks Paulo,
This looks like a completely different game to the original Spore. It’s still a pity EA completely missed the mark on Spore.
Forget the atrocious DRM scandal, but what really sunk the boat, was just how terrible the game was, and what’s worse is the fact that they really could have created a really special space life/evolution simulator (part-science, part-science-fiction, part-educational).
Every time, I see that awesome tech demo from 2005, and look at the crap they eventually served up as “Spore”, I actually feel teary eyed.. :cwy:
