Alan Wake was announced at E3 in 2005 – and was headed for PC’s and the Xbox 360. 5 years later when it finally saw release, it was an Xbox 360 exclusive, with Remedy saying that a PC version was "not on the cards at the moment." This week, Remedy’s Executive VP Aki Järvilehto told a Finnish site Ylex that "some positive news to tell" PC gamers in the near future.
It looks like that near future might be sooner than anticipated.
Eagle-eyed Steam users have noticed that the game’s shown up on Steam’s registry – a record of games available on the service – doing more than just hinting at an imminent Pc release. With the PC version of the game having been heavily worked on and demoed until 2009, it wouldn’t be much of a stretch to resurrect that code and finally release the tense, psychologically jarring survival horror game on PC.
For Alan Wake fans, Alan Wake’s American Nightmare has been announced for Xbox Live Arcade for a release next year; a release that might well coincide with a PC release of the first game.
