Juicy Mirrors Edge 2 rumours

I see you there

Do you remember that awesome Mirrors Edge 2 trailer that EA teased us with at least year’s E3? Well if not take a look and see what we are in for.

Awesome isn’t it?

Anyway now that you are in the mood RocketChainSaw have posted a huge amount of apparent insider info. Now as always none of this can be officially confirmed but if even half of this is true then Mirrors Edge 2 is going to be an incredible experience.

First up Mirrors Edge 2 is only coming to new-gen platforms. No Xbox 360 or PS3 versions are being planned which means no dumbing-down the engines to cater for less powerful hardware. Mind you it is coming to the Xbox One so maybe it will still happen.  The game is a total reboot from the original and not a sequel, the same characters will be involved but this is something brand new.

Mirrors Edge 2 is going to be an open world sandbox game, something which is going to take free running to an entirely new level.

It’s going to be multiplayer and more than that it’s going to be a persistent online experience much in the way we are promised with Destiny. We still aren’t going to see our characters utilising guns and while melee combat is our main form of offence Dice actually see the game more as a racer than a fighting game.

There are more details over at the source site so head over and give them some love.

It’s not all good news though as the source has also stated we are only going to be seeing this game in 2016. Yes not even next year but the following one. That’s a huge investment from EA for a game that didn’t do that well in retail sales so they must see something special here.

I played the first one. Loved the concept (still hate EA), and had nice gameplay. But it had the WORST autosave function ever. I played over an hour in a certain spot. Quit the game to continue the next day. Took me back to the start of the section again. I despise autosave without the option of saving yourself.

Now that you say that. I remember the first shot I ever fired in BF3. Still my farthest headshot to date. I had no idea what was going on and just fired where I saw movement.

Even worst than having to reply last 30 min of game play is listening to long dialogue or watching a sequence after a checkpoint.

And I so hate it when the autosave is BEFORE an unskippable cut scene. (Deus Ex HR here)

Oh man I hate that. Unskippable cut scenes make me want to murder the developer because there’s NO good reason for that.

I don’t mind checkpoint-only saving if it works for the game though.

It’s like the endless, unskippable logos when starting a game. I only need to see them once, after that I’m pretty sure I can remember who the publishers & developers are & which gfx card manufacturer spent the most money. LET ME SKIP THEM.

            March 12, 2014 at 11:12

Yup true that. What I did like about quick save was experimentation. Save before you wana try something wacky. Then just load it up from before you did that

          • General JJ the Fett

            March 12, 2014 at 11:14

Yes. Very much so. Saved my ass in Skyrim numerous times.

But Ink Ribbons was a Resident Evil thing wasn’t it? It actually added to the scariness of the game, if I remember correctly. These days you’re not as crap scared to die in games anymore.
