LittleBigPlanet gets delayed… because of religious text?

LBP Delayed

[Update] The rumour is that the delay will only be for a week so we should be seeing LBP on the 14th of November then.. however seeing that we are a small market I would say there is a higher chance of a longer delay here while Sony and Media Molecule rush to get the discs into the larger markets first.

What a disappointing thing to wake to this morning, Sony has just confirmed that LittleBigPlanet has been recalled worldwide for the strangest of reasons.

According to Sony

“During the review process prior to the release of LittleBigPlanet, it has been brought to our attention that one of the background music tracks licensed from a record label for use in the game contains two expressions that can be found in the Qur’an.”

At first look it seems a little excessive really, but then I found the two passages in question

1- In the 18th second: “كل نفس ذائقة الموت” (“kollo nafsin tha’iqatol mawt”, literally: ‘Every soul shall have the taste of death’).
2- Almost immediately after, in the 27th second: “كل من عليها فان” (“kollo man alaiha fan”, literally: ‘All that is on earth will perish’).

Fun fun… okay so maybe that deserves a recall but honestly how on earth did this only get picked up now?

No news yet on when we can expect to see the game but I don’t expect much of a delay since they just need to change the soundtrack.. however to change the soundtrack they need to recall all retail packages and replace the disc.. this is going to cost them a bit which is really unfortunate for Media Molecule.
