Whenever I log onto Xbox Live, I can rest assured that my list of friends online are playing Battlefied 3. In fact, they’re always playing it, and ignoring my invitation for them to join me in a rousing game of Hello Kitty Island Adventure.

They don’t know what they’re missing out on. Still, Battlefield 3 is as popular as it ever was, and regularly features updates and supports from its developer, DICE, that was meant to fine-tune and tweak the game towards perfection.

Except that latest bandwidth-buster of a patch may have just broken the game.

Allan Roodt sent us a letter describing how the latest patch has rendered the game to be almost unplayable, with the numerous tweaks that were meant to balance and enhance the game resulting in problems such as:

  • Gimped Sniper Rifle ranges
  • MAV-Surfing
  • Tanks are now massive targets made of wet tissue paper
  • Heat-seeking missiles are now useless
  • Recoil on guns is ridiculously high, while front grips make them highly inaccurate
  • The return of performance glitches

And more. Looking around on the Battlelog community pages also reveals dozens of pages of complaints and colourful language, with DICE yet to issue an actual response. How about the rest of you long time Battlefield 3 players, have you encountered any other bugs since you updated to the latest version?
