Lost Planet 3 looks surprisingly good

Lost Planet was one Capcom’s first big titles this generation – and the battles against the giant Akrid snow-beasties showed it to be a promising franchise. Lost Planet 2 pretty much removed everything that was cool about the first game, becoming an all-out action experience. From the first video available for the game’s next sequel, it looks like Capcom are taking it in a whole different direction – by making it more of a survival horror that looks like it draws inspiration from Dead Space.

This first footage from a German press event shows off some of the games arenas and mechanics – and it looks really good. It’s funny though; Capcom seem intent on turning its seminal survival horror series Resident Evil in to an action extravaganza, while at the same time turning one of its action-oriented titles in to a survival horror. The mind boggles.

Anyway have a look at the video, and let us know what you think. It might help though if you know a little German.

Editor. I'm old, grumpy and more than just a little cynical. One day, I found myself in possession of a NES, and a copy of Super Mario Bros 3. It was that game that made me realise that games were more than just toys to idly while away time - they were capable of being masterpieces. I'm here now, looking for more of those masterpieces.
