Man, ZombiU sure is tense…

Ubisoft’s realistic Zombie experience on Nintendo’s new console the wii U is a bit of a hard sell – pretty much like all of Nintendo’s recent stuff. Not because it’s all terrible – but that it’s so incredibly difficult to articulate what makes the experiences so fresh and compelling, and how the Wii U tablet integrates in to the experience. We’ve had a couple of goes with the undead shooter – and we’re pretty confident that it has what it takes to be a system seller.

Here’s a developer diary that tries to explain things a little better – showing just how damned tense the survival shooter can get – especially when you have to rummage in your bag of tricks that the tablet provides. I think zombies as a whole are getting a bit long in the tooth, but the fact that this survival horror actually places emphasis on the art of survival and genuine horror (something curiously  missing from Zombie games…save DayZ) has it set for day one purchase.

Editor. I'm old, grumpy and more than just a little cynical. One day, I found myself in possession of a NES, and a copy of Super Mario Bros 3. It was that game that made me realise that games were more than just toys to idly while away time - they were capable of being masterpieces. I'm here now, looking for more of those masterpieces.
