Even though the fans for Halo number in the tens…locally, I still feel obliged to talk about Xbox’s biggest moneymaker. A fifth core game is on the way, dubbed Halo 5: Guardians. And this time, the Master Chief ain’t fighting alone. In war. Or love.
After a month of alternate reality games, Halo 5’s Hunt The Truth campaign has finally yielded the goods. Specifically, a wrap-around cover featuring Master Chief, Spartan Locke and oodles of sexual tension between the two. Man, you can cut that intensity with a steak knife. Preferably one with proper serrated edges and a seven-year guarantee of sharpness. Pepsi cans beware! Holy crap have I deviated from my original thoughts. Anyway, here’s the cover:
If the image above doesn’t do the game any justice in your books, then here’s a more motioney version to gaze upon:
I have of course, decided to improve the video. With sax:
Hmmm, love is in the air! Halo 5: Guardians will pit Master Chief against Locke, as their two teams race to accomplish some sort of objective with conflicting results. Should be interesting when the game arrives at the end of the year. Hopefully the final game will also offer a helluva lot more optimisation in the netcode department, when compared to the disaster that was Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Laggy gameplay, servers that were constantly non-existent or slower than a presidential speech, resulted in the best parts of Halo being rendered useless for many a gamer for many months after release.
The beta for Halo 5 ran pretty damn smooth however. Hopefully, some of that polish won’t be tarnished in the local release.
