Vampire the game with an incredibly long title and no I am not retyping the damn thing Bloodlines 2 is about more than just being a pain in the neck whenever you’re running low on a bit of plasma. It’s also a game about allegiances, about drawing a line in the sand and choosing your side. Within the underworld of the vampire society, there exists factions that extend beyond the loyalty of the blood clans, organisations which function to pursue an agenda all of their onw.

The first of those high socieities have been revealed! Seattle has a grand total of five factions who are all vying for control for the home of good coffee and Nirvana, and one of them is recruiting. Known as the Pioneers, this group of night-stalkers have the honour of being the founders of vampire culture within that city, an ancient group led by they prince Lou Grand.

Old and steeped in tradition, the Pioneers are unfortunately dinosaurs staring at a meteor of modernisation. Their power has waned, their influence is on the decline and someone needs to be the spark that reignites the flames of that organisation. That someone, could be you. Here’s a more detailed breakdown on the pioneers, via Troika Games:

Vampire pioneers

Who they are

The Pioneers are passionate and have a strong independent spirit, but they refuse to identify with the hot-headed Anarchs. While the Pioneers dream of ruling the city again, they have been forced to accept another’s rules. In exchange, the remaining Pioneers have been allowed to keep control over some minor parts of Seattle.

Defining Characteristics

  • Past Glories – Having built the city, many of Lou’s vampires are in love with their memories of what Seattle once was. Having known each other for a long time, they are intensely loyal. The Pioneers fight tooth and nail to preserve whatever remains of their old world – and of one another.
  • The Insider’s Club – The Pioneers held Seattle for the longest part of the city’s existence. That’s almost unheard of on the West Coast. Having lost so much in the last 20 years, they have become skeptical of the changing world, including any fledgling looking to join.
  • Old Money – There’s a lot of wealth in ruling a city for more than a century. The money of the Pioneers would earn a lot of influence almost anywhere in the world. In the modern boomtown of Seattle, though, all it seems to afford is a more comfortable slide into irrelevance.

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is out next year March for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. In addition to the factions that you’ll be choosing from above, there will also be the various vampire clans from which to create an identity within. I think I’ll make that day a public holiday: Fangsgiving day.
