Somebody has to be charge of a secret society of neck-biting blood-drinkers, and who better than the equivalent of the WWE’s Authority in Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, the Ventrue? Ventrue dat. While the Brujah may be the rebellious fist of vampire society and the Toreador are the artistic representation of the undead, the Ventrue represent leadership.
In vampire society, they’re literal thought leaders, in a way that actually matters in comparison to the three trillion Twitter accounts out there that try to use that title as a fancy way of saying “why did I do media studies in university instead of something proper like a trade”. They’re also a clan that is usually in philosophical conflict with the Camarilla, the current leaders of vampire society who enforce the Masquerade amongst all Kindred.
If you’re a freshly resurrected servant of the night, feel like dipping your toes into a more gothic and romantic version of vampire lore and you’ve got ambition to match your hunger, then the Ventrue is the clan for you:
And here’s a look at their skill tree! Cheers, VG247:
Control the hearts and minds of others with this power. But like, mostly their minds.
- Mesmerize – the primary Dominate power, allows the Ventrue to place one NPC in a brief hypnotic trance. The person so affected is oblivious to the world around them, ignoring sound, touch and even pain.
- Command – the secondary Dominate power, significantly extends the Ventrue’s control over the Mesmerized NPC. They can now be ordered to move, remove obstacles, or even attack others.
Ventrue may be snooty buggers, but they’re also resilient vampires who can take as good as they give and be the last man standing in any physical confrontation.
- Absorb – the first active, allows the vampire to take a brief defensive stance in which they may deflect all attacks they can see, healing their wounds for every would-be strike.
- Personal Armor – the second active power, hardens the vampire’s skin into a stone-like barrier. Can be upgraded to make Ventrue impervious to attacks, causing attackers to stagger back from the recoil of their own strikes.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 will be admiring your jugular next year on PC and console. Your very very attractive vein that circulates blood throughout your body.
