IO Interactive, the geniuses behind Hitman, have announced their latest creation. No, it isn’t Hitman 5 or Freedom Fighters 2. Its called… wait for it….. Mini Ninjas. Yes, Mini Ninjas. Any game with ‘Mini’ in the title makes me instantly hesitant to even read up on it, but as IO Interactive introduced me to piano wire and a head with a barcode on it, I am willing to give this a chance.

Its due in Spring on every gaming platform currently available and CVG were kind enough to post the press release for it, while Joystiq had a trailer for it.

Prepare yourself for a Ninja adventure like you have never seen before! Join Hiro, the smallest hero on the biggest adventure, as he embarks on an epic and electrifying quest to restore harmony to a world on the brink of chaos.
Use your skills and mighty Ninja training to battle a magical army of evil Samurai. Harness the power of your Kuji magic and utilise the special skills of your Mini Ninja friends as you travel through a perilous world to reach the final confrontation with the Evil Samurai Warlord in his Fortress of Doom.

“Mini Ninjas represents a truly special game for us,” said Niels Jørgensen, General Manager of Io Interactive. “The whole team is very excited about it, because it is unique in so many ways. From the art style to the characters and the depth of the game – Mini Ninjas has that exceptional appeal, which is sure to keep both young and old very entertained.”

We see from the video and screenshots posted at CVG and Joystiq (check the links above) the art style is very pretty, just like Mr Jørgensen said. Perhaps IO are onto something here that doesn’t involve death-by-poisoned-food. Lets hope it’s awesome.

[Ed] A game that starts with mini (pity we can’t say midget) ninja’s and ends with Panda’s while having an awesome sound experience throughout… All I need now is a beer and my gaming life may well just be complete. This game looks like an absolute must have.
