I hate to break it to you guys, but duct-taping two PS2s together does not actually equal a PlayStation 4 console. It’s been a long wait for next-gen to reach our sunny shores, but this Friday marks the start of that brand new generation of gaming. If you’re keen on attending a midnight launch to grab a PS4, here’s where you need to be.
BT Games
Local gaming chain BT Games will be having a midnight launch, and have earmarked the following shops to be open at midnight this Thursday(Friday? I’m bad with time zones). Have pity on the poor staff who will be missing their beauty sleep for you:
- Canal Walk
- Cape Gate
- Cavendish Connect
- Centurion Mall
- Clearwater Mall
- Cresta
- Eastgate
- Eastrand Mall
- Fourways Mall
- Gateway
- Greenstone
- Kenilworth
- Menlyn
- Mimosa Mall
- Pavilion
- The Glen
- Tygervalley
- V & A Waterfront
- Vincent Park
- Walmer Park
- Woodlands
AWX
The lovely ladies and lads at AWX will also be burning the midnight oil for one of their trademark midnight launches. Remember, you can find that cool shop at the Brightwater Commons in Yo-Hannesburg.
If you know of any other places having a midnight launch, drop a comment below and we’ll add them to this list.

For everyone that’s getting one of these bad boys… enjoy. I will wait for my X1 and work through my Steam backlog in the meantime.

At least Canal Walk is pretty safe (same with Bayside), but I’d be pretty paranoid in Kenilworth… that used to be a pretty dicey shopping centre.

Cape Gate and Tygervalley is also OK!! But I am sceptical of Kenilworth as well….

Oh definitely, I personally love Tygervalley, but Kenilworth… dicey as fuck! (Access Park isn’t as awesome as it once was). Cavendish is ok too, but I rarely go there any more.

It’s kinda funny that you can get it at BT games and the South Park header says TB Games… How did no one notice this?
