Hoopa (1)

One of the biggest secrets in the Pokémon games since 2013, has been Hoopa. A mystery that’s been as badly kept as the secret identity of the Flash. The mythical legendary has been locked away in the 3D game files of Pokémon X, Y, Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby for ages now, with savvy players managing to hack the elusive creature out of the game. And it looks like Hoopa is finally getting ready to step out into the spotlight.

Unattainable through normal means of gameplay, Nintendo has begun teasing a Hoopa release, due in part to the upcoming new Pokémon film that stars the critter. Here’s the trailer, which lays it heavy on with Hoopa’s alternate form, the nightmare-fuel that is Hoopa Unbound:

After it transforms, Hoopa also gets much, much bigger, growing six arms and turning the dimensional walls around it into a mere playtoy. Here’s the official stats, which border on Victor Matfield levels of size:

Hoopa (3)

  • Category: Djinn Pokémon
  • Type: Psychic/Dark
  • Height: 21’04” [6.5 m]
  • Weight: 1,080.3 lbs. [490.0 kg]
  • Ability: Magician

Awesome! I’ve been needing to complete my Pokedex with the very latest addition. Nintendo says that more details will be revealed soon, so I’m hoping that Hoopa will be a download. With Hoopa and Diancie revealed at long last, that just leaves Volcanion to be revealed, hopefully in time before the next Pokémon game arrives. Volcanion can be captured through the use of cheats, hacking or QR codes, but I kind of have a soft spot for official unveilings of these little guys.

Hoopa (2)

That, and my massive obsession with the game which saw me spend several months working my ass off to finally complete my pokedex. WORTH IT!

Something wrong gentlemen? You come here prepared to read the words of a madman, and instead found a lunatic obsessed with comics, Batman and Raul Julia's M Bison performance in the 1994 Street Fighter movie? Fine! Keep your bio! In fact, now might be a good time to pray to it!
