The Playstation 3 will be seeing a new optional Firmware update very soon, according to the EU Playstation Blog.
I know what your first question is, the answer is no.
What the update will be including will be a couple of nifty features such as the ability to transfer data between two consoles linked with a network cable as well as the ability to play your PSP minis on your Playstation 3.
We also now know that the PSN Store will be receiving an update on the 22nd of December and then again on 7th of January 2010.
One more time, it is optional, so if you don’t see yourself using it, then you don’t have to download it. More information through the link below.

Sony really thought this whole PS3 Slim thing out. This just adds one more reason to change from my 60GB to the slim… an easy transfer method!

Hopefully it also sorts out the problems that some of us have syncing trophies on peak hours.
