Today’s news is all about Sony’s motion-controller, now called Move. This post isn’t going to change that. Zipper Interactive’s recently announced Socom 4 for the PS3 will have full Move support – but it raises the question of whether motion control is a suitable input method for what’s a pretty core online shooter.
The announced Move sub-controller – a much less catchy name than Nunchuk – will control the players movement, with the
Love Move Wand controlling the player’s reticule. Thankfully for fans of controls of a more traditional input method can still use the good ol’ DS3 – and hands-on previews report that that’s probably the preferred method.
I’m glad Sony are actually trying to appease the “core†market – everything we’ve seen from Microsoft’s Natal so far smacks of “casual,†but I don;t think Socom 4 is the core game to get me waggling though. Footage from GDC after the jump. Let us know what you think.
