Sony takes back Japan

It appears that Sony has had enough of Microsoft trying to annex Japan and the Americanised Nintendo ruling in the land of the rising sun.

With a glint in it’s eye and a smile on it’s face, Sony has been marketing itself silly in Japan and it appears that it is really paying off.

For the second month running now Sony has taken the top sales spot in Japan with its PS3 outselling both the Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii.

PlayStation 3: 22,825
Nintendo Wii: 17,276
Xbox 360: 4849

However on the hand held front Nintendo is still holding out but not by much, this could be down to the imminent release of the DSi though, we will have to wait until next month to see if that is the case

Nintendo DS: 65,809
PlayStation Portable: 54,148

If things keep on improving in Sony’s favour like above. Then we might have a new second (first place) console.. good for them.. Im glad PS3 is starting to catch momentum , atleast they dont have 10 000 consoles crashing/breaking everyday of the same error

We don’t normally report on the PS2 but as far as I remember it was doing better than the Xbox 360 and worse than everything else

Just kidding Lazy. I actually believe the 360 has done an excellent job of breaking into the Japanese market. The next MS console will definitely do a lot better there, thanks to the 360.

What’s the world sales figures btw? As far as I can remember Japan has the lowest HD consoles sales of the big 3 (USA/Europe/Japan). If the PS3 is outselling the Xbox360 world wide, then I’ll be impressed.
