The fan favourite character will be back in action in the Call of Duty reboot and he’ll be bringing a some as yet unannounced character with him.

I might be painfully alone in this, but I enjoy the Call of Duty campaigns. Obviously, they’re similar e but I enjoy participating in what is undoubtedly going to be an over-the-top action romp with loads of guns, explosions and questionable dialogue. The CoD campaigns are ridiculous action movies that you get to play, the equivalent of watching modern Fast and Furious movies but controlling those beefy boys while they go about their petrol-swilling business. Sometimes, Call of Duty can actually pull off some decent stories; Modern Warfare is the obvious example for a great campaign, but I really enjoyed the stories of Modern Warfare 2, Black Ops, Black Ops 2 and Advanced Warfare. Yet the Modern Warfare games always stood out as the single-player example many of the other games strived to be.

So I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little excited to see that fuzzy-faced action man Captain Price in the initial trailer for the Modern Warfare reboot. He’s not the deepest or most fleshed-out character ever penned, but dude was a stone-cold badass, and it looks like he’ll be joined by some more fan favourite characters as Infinity Ward confirmed that John “Soap” McTavish will also be returning to the series as well as another as yet unconfirmed from the Modern Warfare franchise. Information is still vague at this point, but when queried on Twitter about the possible return of familiar faces, Narrative Director Taylor Kurasaki, confirmed the return of characters that appeared in the original Modern Warfare games.

Modern Warfare 2019 is said to be a soft reboot of the franchise though it has been as yet unconfirmed how this will come into play. Whether the story is a re-imagining of the original or an entirely new take on the nuke-laden events of 2007’s Modern Warfare remains to be seen. Perhaps we’ll see the return of playable character Roach or tragic side-kick Ghost. Whoever it may be, I’m excited to see how this all pans out.

I loved Ghost but I hope his death isn’t retconned, just because it was so powerful. Looking forward to this game for sure, sounds wonderful and dark.
