Applications for the PC Alpha of Star Wars: Battlefront are open and if you want to apply, you can head on over here and sign up. Of course, your PC needs to be up to scratch in order to play, so here are the minimum requirements for the Alpha.
- CPU: Quad Core CPU e.g. Intel Core i5-2400 @ 2.8 GHz or AMD Phenom II x4 955 @ 3.2 GHz or AMD FX-8350 @ 4.0 GHz
- RAM: 6 GB
- OS: Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8/8.1 (64-big operating system required)
- Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 or AMD Radeon HD 7970 with 2 GB of Video Memory
That’s not that ridiculously high. I mean, it’s sort of in line with where games are going; PC gamers need to ensure that they have high enough RAM, a 64-bit OS and a decent CPU in general. These aren’t unreasonable minimum specs to see in a game, especially for an Alpha. It’s important to note that these specifications are not the final specifications for the game; the community manager keeps stressing this on reddit.
I think we should probably assume that the minimum specs will go down when the final game releases. The Alpha is usually way before any kind of optimization that would allow the game to run on less powerful machines. Just remember, entry into the Alpha is random, so if you don’t get invited, please don’t take it personally.
I will avoid playing this game in early stages. I think I’d rather wait and get the full experience when the game is released rather than spoil it for myself by playing all the early versions. Are you desperate to just get your hands on it ASAP, or will you wait until it’s released in November?
