The 2012 Golden Joystick awards was more than just your usual collection  of games being honoured this year, as the event celebrated a milestone 30th year in business. It was glitz, glamour and appreciation towards the games industry that night, or at least I think so. I’m blacklisted from the event, after that incident back in 2010 where I set a Guitar Hero band on fire. Jimi Hendrix told me to do it! Anyway, here are the winners, all listed below.

Best Action-Adventure

  • Batman: Arkham City

Best use of DLC

  • Portal 2 (Perpetual Testing Initiative)

Best Download Game

  • Minecraft (360)

Best Fighter

  • Mortal Kombat Komplete

Best Handheld Game

  • Uncharted: Golden Abyss

Best MMO Shortlist

  • World of Tanks

Best Mobile or Tablet Game

  • Angry Birds Space

Best Racing Game

  • Forza 4

Best RPG

  • The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Best Shooter

  • Battlefield 3

Best Browser Game

  • Slender

Best Sports Game

  • FIFA 12

Best Strategy Game

  • Civilization V: Gods and Kings

The One to Watch Award

  • GTA V

Top Gaming Moment

  • The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Throat of the World

The Golden Joystick Ultimate Game Award

  • The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Overall, a pretty solid list, except for the part where Angry Birds Space won best mobile/tablet game. Scoff. Scoff to the max! That award should have gone to Kingdom Rush I say! What do you think? Do you agree with these awards, or were some better games overlooked in the judging process? Like Kingdom Rush? Kingdom Rush! DAMMIT, KINGDOM RUUUUUUUUSH!

Something wrong gentlemen? You come here prepared to read the words of a madman, and instead found a lunatic obsessed with comics, Batman and Raul Julia's M Bison performance in the 1994 Street Fighter movie? Fine! Keep your bio! In fact, now might be a good time to pray to it!
