The good, the bad and the ugly of last week – 17 October 2014

We’re right in the heart of the gaming storm folks. It’s the second week in a row with two big launches, and it doesn’t look like things are slowing down. I’m loving it, but the gaping black hole that has taken over my wallet seems to have a different opinion. If you need an organ, I’m your man.

Well would you look at that! The PS4 is now a little more than just a gaming console. Media services finally made their way to Sony’s console this week, and that’s every reason to get up and shake it like Christopher Walken. One game you won’t be playing on your new console though is Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, now will 100% more King Arthur references. And speaking of the medieval, we got our first look at Dragon Age: Inquisition’s interface on PC. Breathe easy Master Race, it’s pretty damn sexy.

Worst Stories

Another week, yet another attack on Anita Sarkeesian. This week the Feminist Frequency creator was forced to cancel a talk over a school shooting threat. That was followed up but the really badly timed announcement of Hatred, an indie game all about senselessly murdering innocent civilians and law enforcement. Not everyone sees it as filth, but I certainly do.

With less doom and gloom, Sunset Overdrive let loose a little more gameplay footage this week. Sadly, it’s looking all the same now.

Random Stories

Do you enjoy a good game of Warframe? Well then you might be interested to know that the studio behind it is now owned by a Chinese food company, which may help the studio stay above water. What might not help China, though, is the fact that people are making iPhones in Minecraft now. Who needs Foxconn anymore?

Best ION Header

I don’t know about you, but Tasty Tuesdays are easily my favourite ION round-ups. This week was no different, with Darryn making everyone’s mouth water with some sultry sausage action.

Just look at those mustard curves.  Those uneven, uniquely cut chips. I NEED LUNCH!

Still angry over the recent PS Plus price hike? Well, you’re not alone, and we really wanted to find out why it happened. That’s why Zoe sat down with some well dressed Sony representatives at rAge, which drew the most comments out of the lot of you. Guess we know where everyone’s brand loyalty lies now.

Least Comments

Valve’s Source Filmmaker has enable thousands of aspiring directors to start messing around with their favourite games and making movies. They’re so popular that they have their own Oscars, with the 2014 Saxxy winners being announced this week. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like many people care, especially since it’s all about Dota 2. We’re sorry, Martha.

Batman of the Week

If you didn’t see Darryn over the weekend, it’s probably because he couldn’t walk five steps without being asked to strike a pose. That’s ok though, because he’s back in another Batman suit this week, standing high on a perch over all of us.

Cabbage of the Week

Believe it or not, the cabbage rivalry was actually pretty strong this week. I probably has Matty’s absence yesterday to thank for my lead, allowing him to claim the vegetable honour. Wear it with pride fellow porra.

Header Image of the Week

Nicholas Cage, cars and frames per second all in one photo? This my be the best header ever created. EVER I SAY! Too bad it’s not in 1080p…

Comment of the Week

Everyone is still taking shots at Destiny – and it’s still not getting old. I’m pretty sure we could like this comment more times than there are guns in Destiny. Go on, give Hammersteyn some love!

Hammersteyn – This article alone has more guns than Destiny

And that’s the week in a nutshell. There’s some Evil Within and Borderlands to play, so what are you waiting for? Let’s all go weekend!
