That weird sound you hear is depression and disappointment, it’s a collective sigh of despair that David Cage has announced that he will not be making a sequel to the utterly amazing Heavy Rain because the story has been told and he’s not in this to make money.
It’s a different approach to life I guess and one that some might say is refreshing and a sign to the youth that life isn’t all about money.
I personally find it horribly selfish, all he’s thinking about is himself and not once is he thinking about what the millions of people who bought Heavy Rain want, we want another game bigger and better than the first with the same basic gameplay elements.
Okay fine I don’t think it’s selfish, but I would if I only thought about myself.. ironic isn’t it.
I wrote Heavy Rain because I was excited about it, because there was something to say. Yeah I could make Heavy Rain 2, but I’ve said what I’ve had to say about it. That’s the strength of Quantic Dream, to have the capacity to create new ideas, to make something that breaks ground.
So what’s he going to be working on next? Well we don’t know and by the sound of it he doesn’t know either. He wants to work on something new and original and important. David Cage is an artist and you’ll never really know what an artists doing until they are finished.
So until then David can’t you get some of your underlings to start on Heavy Rain 2 for us who really don’t think you’ve finished telling the story.
