Many have a strange fascination with motorsport that I’m unable to comprehend. I don’t see the appeal of watching some vehicle go around and around a track for hours. I do like the hum and buzz of the engines through the TV though, as that sort of white noise is perfect for a Sunday afternoon nap. Nothing will get me to sleep quicker than actually playing a Formula 1 game – but for people who love to play a digital version of the sport there’s good news.
Yes, there’s a brand new Formula One game coming this year, but here’s a bit of bad news. It’s only coming to the old consoles, and PC. This year’s game, however, brings with it some of the actual sport’s biggest changes – including turbochargers and the ERS system.
There will be one for the new consoles, but only next year to coincide with the 2015 racing season. The older game will be digitally updated to make everything relevant.
“Our title for the new generation formats will mark a huge step forward for the F1 series,” said creative director Stephen Hood. “We want to be out there earlier in the season and deliver new season content updates digitally as the 2015 season progresses; it’s very exciting for the series and our players.”
Here’s a look at this year’s F1 game. F1 2014 launches on 17th October 2014 for the old consoles and PC. It’ll launch anew in 2015 on PC and the new consoles.
Feel the power of new turbocharged FORMULA ONE™ cars in the most accessible FORMULA 1™ video game yet, including a new driver evaluation system to adjust the game to your level, shorter career options and new Very Easy mode. F1 2014 features all the cars, drivers and circuits from the 2014 FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP™ including new tracks in Russia and Austria.

Header winner – isn’t that how most of us watch F1…
