This is what Bethesda’s been teasing

1 min read

No, it’s not Fallout 4. And it’s not even a new Wolfenstein. It looks like Bethesda’s silly vine videos have been teasing the new “pure” survival Horror from Shinji Mikami, the guy who created Resident Evil.

Known tentatively as “Project Zwei,” we know very little about the game at the moment, and we’ve seen very little aside from a bit of concept art – and a quote from Mikami saying “I’ve found my focus and once again I’m striving for pure survival horror,” something that should get any fan of the genre excited.

Shinji Mikami, now the head of Zenimax owned Tango Gameworks, is best known for his role in creating the survival horror franchises Resident Evil and Dino Crisis with Capcom, and then God Hand with Clover Studio.

“As a master of the ‘survival horror’ genre, Shinji Mikami is committed to making a game that is the realization of pure survival horror, an experience which he defines as one that pushes the limits of fear and exhilaration. He and his team at Tango are committed to attaining this vision,” says the site’s PR blurb.

IGN’s revealed it to be “the Evil Within” Watch it here, followed by  those stupid Vine teasers , in case you missed them. With the second one, I’d nearly gotten my hopes up for a gritty Plants vs Zombies reboot..but it’s just not meant to be.

Editor. I'm old, grumpy and more than just a little cynical. One day, I found myself in possession of a NES, and a copy of Super Mario Bros 3. It was that game that made me realise that games were more than just toys to idly while away time - they were capable of being masterpieces. I'm here now, looking for more of those masterpieces.
