THQ Bringing you a new WWE franchise

WWEAllstars

Ok, I’ll admit. Wrestling games have been a guilty pleasure of mine since I was wee lad. I stopped having any interest in the sport spectacle right around puberty, but I’ve always enjoyed the games. i have really fond memories of Fire Pro Wrestling on the SNES, both Wrestlemania Arcade games and Smackdown 2 on the PS1.

Smackdown vs Raw though has become an incredibly stale, boring game with yearly iterations that provide marginal upgrades. Which may be why THQ will be developing a new yearly series for fans of the WWE and its particular offering of “sports entertainment”.

WWE All Stars will be introduced in 2011 and will, according to THQ core games boss Danny Bilson, be a less “simmy” game, intended for more casual players, who prefer over-the-top arcade action to the debatably simulator-esque Smackdown vs Raw.

WWE All Stars is in development for DS, PS3, PSP, Wii and Xbox 360.Controls will be accessible, graphics stylised there will be an emphasis on the aforementioned  over-the-top mayhem. The game’s due in the first-half of 2011.

Stylised is cool and all..but why the hell do those dudes look like they’re wearing flesh-coloured marine suits?

Not completely sold on this idea, I wish they would just revamp the current series.

What we need is a current-gen Fire Pro Wrestling. those games were awesome.

It looks pretty interesting, and from the videos that I’ve seen of this one it really seems like it’s a completely different beast all together.

I still have this wish that aki would make another wrestling game.

I want another one of that awesome Midway WWF game from back in the day… the one that was pretty much like NBA Jam for wrestling… you know the one, that game was so much fun.
