TitanFall have posted the latest update on their news site giving us some background into the IMC faction in the game and I was pleasantly surprised to see that the characters aren’t all American or British this time around – with our lovely country making a strong showing.
First up we meet Vice Admiral Graves who is the commander-in-chief of the front line troops.
Graves has the reputation of a maverick and commands his troops with far less adherence to protocol than would be expected of an officer closer to home. So pretty much the stereotypical bad ass leader of his crack squad.
Next up our very own South African who is obviously just a mercenary for the IMC.
Blisk is a true blooded South African mercenary who joined up to earn enough money to retire on a tropical island. However just as he was ready to retire he realised he thoroughly enjoyed making so much money and even more so, blowing everything up.
And the last member of this IMC squad is Spyglass
According to the TitanFall website, Spyglass is the physical manifestation of the IMC’s vast computational power and these units are deployed with most squads in the field. They keep everyone up to date with what’s going on and are considered expendable assets when the fighting starts.
This latest reveal follows an earlier reveal of the Militia which I totally missed so let’s cover that quickly.
As with the IMC there are three main members.
On the left we have MacAllen who used to serve under Graves on his last ship. According to Graves MacAllen mutinied at the time and left with some other soldiers but this has not been proven as MacAllen has the flight data.
In the middle that trim young man is Bish, Bish is short for Bishamon who is the mythical god of warriors according to the Japanese. Bish is the engineer in the team and is also an ex-IMC employee
The lovely lady on the right s Sarah, Sarah was a frontier child where she lost many family members to the IMC’s forced removal policy. She now lives to exact revenge on the corporation and is on the IMC’s top 50 most wanted list.
It was mentioned before that the game had a South African link and now we know what it is. Granted it’s the typical South African mercenary badass but hey it’s something and that makes me happy. I’m just hoping I can get the companies Xbox One in time so that I can experience the game how it is meant to be experienced.
I also want to be on the Militia side to take down the evil corporation… but how could I shoot my own people? I’m going to have to sell my soul to the IMC instead.

That all depends on where he is from: If he is from anywhere other than Boksburg, Benoni and Vanderbijlpark, all will be fine. If he is from any of the three cities mentioned, I am not too sure if “Jou ma se P03$” will be so great for the kiddies bound to play this game…

To you maybe, As I have said so many times yet everyone ignores it, Titanfall is using the Source engine, yup the same one that powered HL2 and lets be honest, that isn’t exactly screaming next gen. Also most probably the true reason behind the 6v6 player.

Its running at 120fps though. And in a competitive game that’s all that matters. I will most likely run it at lowest detail, just like I do with all multiplayer games. Quake Live has now been bumped to 250fps and its silky smooth.

yeah but you don’t want too look at something sub par do you just to get the fps? why not just get a better machine to handle it.

Ofcourse. The lower the graphics and effects the better you can see the enemy. When it comes to MP for me gameplay is king. Graphics are for single player immersion. God rays, motion blur, environment effects such as fog and rain just kills visibility. Ideally you want high resolution character models, and low resolution for everything else for even better contrast. 🙂

That’s some generic character designs.
Sure, you have a South African, but this game reminds me of Fuse and the countless other generic shooters out there with generic storylines and the usual archetypes. Let me guess, the chick is a hacker. The South African merc is the tough guy and the fat guy is comedic relief. Now we just need a fast talking black guy.
