Titanfall will change shooters forever

brace yourselves

Titanfall is the word. Call of Duty fans and shooter enthusiasts around the world have high hopes for this game. Some have even said it’ll destroy the upcoming Call of Duty Ghosts. The game will present some new skills to master. I have a feeling that this is the beginning of a whole new trend in shooter games.

VG24/7 picked up the comments dropped by Titanfall lead designer Fairfax “Mackey” McCandlish while speaking to Joystiq.

“We started to imagine what it would be like to play an existing map if you had these crazy capabilities,” he said.

“It’s all about finding something new and interesting, like a new skill to master. We’re all really good at aiming and shooting now; it’s nice to get a reward for manoeuvrability and outthinking the opponent, thinking one step ahead.

“It’s really bringing a lot of that shooter experience and inventiveness and taking every game we’ve ever loved and making it into one.”

The game will present players with “new skills” to perfect in-game, specifically double-jumping and wall-running. I can only imagine this to be insanely fun and that gamers will master these to the max. It would be adding some much needed spice to shooters in eSports. Of course, this means that these skills will start popping up in many more shooters to be created in the future, how can it not? The ideas aren’t revolutionary, but haven’t really been implemented in this way. I really do hope that this game doesn’t disappoint. Because double-jumping!? NP BRO.

Check out the E3 Titanfall announcement trailer below and tell us what you think. Will this title join Battlefield and Call of Duty as the world’s most popular shooters and give CoD a good run for its money?

Titanfall will release on PC, Xbox ONE and Xbox 360 in 2014.
