Will Grand Theft Auto 5 be announced at Gamescom?

Hollywood

GTA5 hasn’t been announced but it doesn’t take a brain surgeon to figure out that Rockstar are going to be releasing another GTA title in the relatively near future.

At the moment we are still waiting for final details on Rockstar’s two other titles, L.A. Noire and Agent but in all reality neither of those titles have the pulling power of GTA.

Earlier this year we expected GTA5 to be announced at E3 but in the weeks running up to E3 Rockstar announced that they will have no presence on the show floor, though I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that they were there.

But with no official presence there was no chance of a major announcement, however all that can change at Gamescom this year.

Gamescom is a larger gaming show by numbers but is not nearly as big as E3 in industry terms, which means that Rockstar can steal the show by announcing the next title in the GTA series with very little worry about being overshadowed by a new Xbox 360, Kinect, Move or the 3DS.

Oh and did I forget to mention that Rockstar has an official presence at Gamescom.

Gamescom starts on Thursday and you’ll be able to find all the information you need to know right here.

*Any bets on GTA5 being set in Hollywood? Back to San Andreas…

Hope they make another San-Andreas like GTA game, that was the most fun GTA out of all of them.

May I suggest the Saint’s Row series? 😉
Derivative, sure – but way more fun than GTA IV.

I have to agree with Geoff, although the first Saint’s Row had terrible graphics and animation (just wow..at the running animation) but it actually felt more GTA-esque than GTA4. The insurance fraud minigames are my favourites, and nothing beats flinging yourself infront of a bus (hilarious).

The second Saint’s Row is a pleasure to play, and I would definitely recommend it over GTA4, however if you.

Maxiviper: San Andreas was definitely the best GTA. I still play it actually, although my disk has seen better days. :cwy:

What let GTA4 down was ultimately the characterization and if felt incredibly serious for a GTA game. What made the previous GTA’s special was the fact that although it relied on stereotypes it did so in a tongue-in-the-cheek fashion, whereas in GTA4 the “potato was way too strong”.

    Geddit? potato? Eastern Europe?

Agreed. Just way too serious and “realistic” In previous GTA games, when I’d blown stuff up or shot people I’d have a good giggle – because of its cartoon violence.

In GTA IV, when i had to snipe somebody in the head, I actually felt a little sick to my stomach – the tone and style were way, way too serious.

Pretty much, one of the more ridiculously funny bits in the previous GTAs was picking up a prostitute and then running her over with your car to get your money back.

In GTA4, the first time you did this would undoubtedly be your last, because you really felt guilty and it just seemed wrong, because it’s clear from the storyline that Niko Bellic would never kill so mercilessly. In fact, Niko isn’t some bastard who would kill prostitutes.

GTA should definitely go back to its routes, gritty mixed with satirical madness.

I want to dress up as a giant chicken and go on a shooting rampage from the back of a Faggio. 😎

    Good times!

In Saint’s Row 2 I dressed my character up as a hotdog and went on a shooting spree. It always makes me giggle when I play that game.

Seriously under-appreciated game, that. Despite its bugs and glitches, I really loved that game. Plus, it had voice work by Neil Patrick Harris.

I would be pretty sure of GTA5 being in Hollywood. A friend of a friend (tenuous, I know), works for Rockstar North, on Vice City through to GTA4, and has been spent a lot of time in LA a while ago. With that, and given all the other rumours recently, I’d be pretty confident in saying it will be Hollywood or Rockstars unique interpretation of.

LOL@Hollywood sign, you do know they were researching Hollywood MIAMI, not Hollywood California, right? hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Why would they research Hollywood, Miami, instead of Hollywood, California (LA)? It makes no sense. If I had to put my money on it, we’re heading back to Los Santos (Los Angeles) i.e. GTA5 is GTA San Andreas 2.

That and Vice city was already modeled after Miami. I was hoping for GTA london, to be honest.

Although that was Miami -proper-, I’m also secretly hoping for a location outside of the States. As much as I enjoyed GTA San Andreas, and Episodes in Liberty City.

They really could make it interesting. There are so many awesome places in the world that could get GTA-fied, Moscow, Paris, London and even freaking Dehli!!

Just imagine a GTA set in a major Indian city? Completely tongue in the cheek, with dodgy racist colonial-minded moustached English ex-pats, or creepy Indian criminals. I would dry hump that disk so hard…

Sheesh, imagine a GTA set in Tokyo, complete with dodgy Japanese TV commercials, tattooed yakuza and chinese triads. I know Yakuza 3 is out, but comeon, that game is not GTA.

I disagree, the northern lands hold no value for us Capetownians (sorry lads, we just mark the rest of South Africa as uncivilized lands).

GTA Cape Town would be awesome. Just picture it, the Sea Point Nigerians, the Parkland Congolese and Nigerian gangs, the local Cape Flats gangs, the Somalis in the townships, the gangs in the townships, Camp’s Bay Russian and Italian mafia, Blaauwberg Italian mafia, the Boerewors brigade in Bellville and Stellenbosch, the Southern Suburbs Chinese Triads, the Rhodesians in Rondebosch, the Zimbabweans in the inner city…

You really have it all in Cape Town! Don’t forget, you can base jump of Mount TableTop (Table Mountain).

They should make GTA 5 as a multi state map as in Godfather 2. They should have a San Andreas and then you could be able to fly to Vice City or Liberty City. That would be cool.

Yeah the over-stereo-typed characters in gta4 and your main character being a sad idiot let it down. it felt like the people that made the others weren’t apart of it.

the lost and the damned was the only thing that was good with gta4.
